Why Try Scuba Diving in Trincomalee?

Trincomalee offers an east-coast diving season from approximately April to October. When conditions allow, Navy Island gives beginners access to shallow reef and rock formations under professional supervision, so your first scuba experience can happen in real tropical ocean conditions rather than only a swimming pool. Coral, rock formations and tropical reef fish may be encountered, but marine-life sightings are never guaranteed. The final site, route and depth are selected according to conditions and participant comfort.

Tropical Ocean Experience

Try scuba in real ocean conditions with an instructor choosing the right plan for the day.

Shallow Navy Island Dive Area

Published local descriptions place parts of the area around 5–12 metres.

Experienced Local Supervision

Your route, depth and pace are guided by professional judgment and daily sea conditions.

Your First Dive at Navy Island

Navy Island is a shallow Trincomalee dive area with coral reef, rock formations and tropical marine life. Published local dive-site descriptions place parts of the area between approximately 5 and 12 metres, allowing the instructor to select an appropriate area and depth for first-time divers. Your dive plan will depend on visibility, sea conditions and your comfort in the water. Wildlife sightings vary naturally, and no specific species can be guaranteed.

Beginner-appropriate open water only

Discover Scuba Diving participants remain in beginner-appropriate open-water areas and do not enter caves, swim-throughs or overhead environments. Maximum depth is up to 12 metres, and actual depth depends on comfort, age, ability, sea conditions and instructor judgment.
